New character

Ok, this character is 100% my design. I created him to be the main character in an animation I have planned for the future. I've still gotta bone/rig him, but I'm going to wait until after I get all of the models done up before I even begin to think about that. Click the image for a larger view (1024x768).

Peppermint

Ok, I'm back to modeling again.

I saw this drawing of a toon girl named Peppermint on http://www.the-blueprints.com/ and just had to model her. This was a great modeling exercise for me as not only did I learn a lot from it, I also now have my own techniques for quick and efficient modeling of mouths and ears ^_^

Sunday, March 9, 2008

Got really burnt out working on that locker room, so I decided to do a little toon modeling. Here's the result of about 2 hours worth of work. I turned on silhouette edges, and surface boarders so that the toon lines would show up in the render (didn't feel like cel-shading).

Locker room challenge

I've entered the latest contest over at spinquad. The challenge is to create a locker room of any sort. The prizes value at around $1,500, so I'm pulling out my A game here. Here is just a couple days work, still have til the end of March to finish ;P

Oh hell yeah!

Won my first CG texturing challenge ^_^

This is exciting for me because it's actually the first cg challenge I've ever won, out of my six and a half years of learning 3D modeling/animation.

Zbrush 3

Ok, so now that the Halloween contest is over, I've decided to start learning Zbrush. I have to say, the program is incredibly easy to learn. The picture I have included in this post is a head that I previously modeled in Lightwave, but sculpted using Zbrush. The sculpt didn't take very long, I'd say 30 minutes to an hour (being new to the app, I'm still learning where all the tools are, and what they are).
